Football Is Back!!

So the 2011 NFL season is finally underway.  For some time it looked like there wasn’t going to be an NFL season.  I am not sure about you but I am so happy that Football is back.  Now unfortunately I am a New York Giants fan.  It is very hard to be optimistic about this year due to all the off-season losses and injuries.  Then the G-men have an awful pre-season.  The first game started out pretty well for the Giants, however it took a turn for the worst.   The offense had quick series’ which means the defensive was stuck out on the field for a long tired.  The offensive line seemed old and confused.  It was hard to enjoy this Sunday’s game.
Now while the Giants had an off day, there were a few surprises in the games today.  Rookie Cam Newton had a great opening game with a long TD pass to Steve Smith and a rushing TD.  He will most likely get the most attention tomorrow on Sports Center.   The Ravens also had a huge start against the strong Steelers.  The Ravens D controlled Big Ben.  Another big story was that of Kerry Collins and the Indianapolis Colts.  Collins had a dreadful game and they lost big to the Houston Texans.
The biggest surprise, I think, was that of the game that Rex Grossman had against my beloved New York Giants.  It took control of the game.  Rex started a little slow but after the Giants first score by Eli Manning, his game took flight.  He made great passes and he got help from his teammate Tim Hightower who recorded his first career 100+ yard game.  He insured a lot of positive things in the Washington Redskins fan base.
While Week 1 is not over yet, I am personally ready for Week 2.  My Giants need to come out strong against the St. Louis Rams next Monday.   There seem to be a lot of great matchups next week.  Drop a comment and let me know what you believe to be the best game to watch next week.
