For the second time in Eli Manning's career, he was named Super Bowl MVP.  He had the best season of his career.  He set a NFL record for touchdowns in the 4th Qtr. He also led the NFL in 4th Qtr. game winning drives.  Eli Manning capped his season with a game winning 4th Qtr. drive to beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Before the start of this season, Eli stated that he though he ranked among the best quarterbacks in the league. He thought he was an Elite quarterback.  The media went nuts.  They turned it around on him and made it seem like he thinks he is better than everyone else.  All he meant was that he "believes" he is a Elite quarterback.  He definitely proved that he is one of the best.

Now the talk is where does he rank among the rest of the Elite quarterbacks.  He is being compared to his brother Peyton.  Eli now has one more Super Bowl win than his brother Peyton.  Eli has the more Super Bowl wins than Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers.  He trails Tom Brady by one, but he has beaten Brady twice in the Super Bowl.

When Eli first came into the league myself and many of Giants fans weren't sold with Eli.  Many of us wanted Philip Rivers back.  After beaten Brady in the Super Bowl for the first time, I was sold.  Ever since then I haven't doubted Eli's play.  I have been doubting the Offensive Coordinator Kevin Gilbride ever since he started.  I couldn't be happier with the play of Eli Manning.  I'd take Eli over every other quarterback in the league.  With his confidence and calm attitude, Eli is one of the best in the clutch.  With that here is where I think Eli Manning ranks among the rest of the NFL QBs.

1. Drew Brees
2. Aaron Rodgers
3. Tom Brady
4. Eli Manning
5.Peyton Mannning

Eli has proved so many people wrong, and has definitely earned an Elite status.  With two Super Bowl wins and two Super Bowl MVP's, Manning has secured a spot in the Hall of Fame.  Along with the Lombardi trophy and MVP trophy, Eli can ride away in a awesome new Chevrolet Corvette.

Let's see if you agree with my ranking of Elite Quarterbacks.  The poll for this week is where you think Eli Manning ranks among the rest of the NFL's best.  Let me know where you think he should rank!

It's Deja Blue! The New York Giants win Super Bowl XLVI 21-17 over the New England Patriots. The main talk coming into this game was of the 2007-2008 Super Bowl where these two teams met. The Giants bested the Patriots in that game, ruining the Patriots "perfect" season. This year, the game played out in a similar fashion. The was another miraculous catch made by a Giants player. Mario Manningham made a great catch down the sideline with just over three minutes left in the game. Although it was not as incredible as David Tyree's in the '08 Super Bowl, this catch turned out to be the game changer.

The Patriots had several chances to put the game away and also made many mistakes.  First play from scrimmage for the Pats, Brady committed a safety, giving the Giants two points.  Later, Brady could not connect with Wes Welker in the 4th Qtr. That play would have put the ball on the Giants 20 yard line and most likely ended the game. Brady threw it too high, but Wes Welker is one of the best in the league and makes that catch 9 out of 10 times.  With all that said, Eli Manning still had to bring his team down the field with a little over three minutes left. That is exactly what he did.

Coming into this season, I would never have believed the Giants and Patriots would have been playing each other. After losing to the Redskins in Week 15, I lost a lot of confidence in my G-Men. That loss made them 7-7. The Giants went on to beat the Jets and the Cowboys to win the East. Then they took down the Falcons, Packers and 49ers, all of which had better records. After winning Super Bowl XLVI, the Giants became the first NFL team in history to go 9-7 and win a Super Bowl. This just goes to show you how great sports are. Nothing is ever predictable.

Eli Manning was named Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his career. I truly believe that the Giants would not have made the playoffs this year if it wasn't for Eli. He received a lot of criticism for he comment about being an "elite" QB. He sure did prove it. He had the most 4th Qtr. comebacks this year. He broke and holds the record for the most 4th Qtr. touchdowns in a season. Eli Manning is perfect on the road in the playoffs. He is truly a Road Warrior. Is Eli better than his big brother Peyton? Is he better than Tom Brady? I am not sure about these but What I do know is Eli Manning is an Elite Quarterback.

Overall, the game was exactly what everyone hoped for. It was a hard fought battle that went back and forth. Of course, I am a little biased because my team won, but this truly was a great game. I honestly thought the Patriots had the win. They drove down the field so easily. However, when Welker dropped that last pass, I knew we had a shot.  Manningham made the play of the game down the sideline.  Eli came through in the clutch like he did so many times this year.

It's a great day to be a Giants fan. They fought the whole year for this moment. They proved so many people wrong. The ticker tape parade is scheduled for Tuesday in the city. I am proud to be a Giants fan. In the words or Brandon Jacobs on the Patriots legacy, "We decapitated them!" Go G-MEN!

Today the Saints will take on the San Francisco 49ers. Drew Brees has been on fire but the 49ers have the best defense in the NFL.  However, the bye week can hurt the 49ers because Drew Brees and the Saints are in such a groove it is going to be hard to contain number 9.

Then at 8:00, the Denver Broncos travel to Foxboro where they try to ride on the Tebow Train.  Tom Brady looks to end the Broncos Cinderella story and move on to the AFC Championship game next Sunday.

On Sunday at 1:00, Arian Foster and the rest of the Houston Texans travel to Baltimore to try and squash the possible last chance for Ray Lewis to get another ring.  Joe Flacco needs to distribute the ball especially to half back Ray Rice.

And finally, the New York Giants head to Lambeau Field to take on the defending champs in a rematch from the 2007 NFC championship game.  The Packers, coming off of a bye, look to use Greg Jennings and their other talented receivers to score their way into the next round. Eli Manning and his 3 talented receivers look to counter their attack.

In the first game, I think that Drew Brees is too hard to handle right now.  Even though the 49ers defense is good, Drew Brees is on another level right now.

Saints 27
49ers 17

For the 8:00 game, Tebow’s ride ends here.  Tom Brady is too good.  The Steelers were not the same Steelers as they were during the season last week.  They were hurt and out of whack.  The combination of Brady and Gronkowski and possibly Welker is too much to handle.

Broncos 10
Patriots 24

Arian Foster is a key player to watch in the first game on Sunday.  The Ravens defense is going to control T.J. Yates, but if Foster can get going, the Texans might have a shot.  However, I think the Ravens are going to come away with the victory.

Texans 23
Ravens 31

The final game is just as difficult to call as the others.  Both of these offenses have clicked this season.  The Packers are gaining WR Greg Jennings back from their injury.  The bye could either help or hurt the Packers. Aaron Rodgers hasn’t taken a live snap in three whole weeks.  The Giants defense has been clicking the last three weeks. They had a huge game last week at home, holding the Falcons to 2 total points.  If the Giants D-line can get to Aaron Rodgers quickly, then I think they have a shot.  The Giants have a better run game and a better defense at this moment.

Giants 35
Packers 27

This offseason for the Jets has only just begun, but is already full of turmoil. As an avid fan of the Jets, it has done nothing but cause me headaches and has caused me to question what the hell is going on in the locker room. At the beginning of the season, there were high hopes for the franchise coming off back to back AFC Championship Game appearances, and boasting some new weapons on offense. Although there were some players on the roster with huge egos and problems in the past (Holmes, Burress) I thought that if there was a coach in the league fit to bring the team together… it was Rex Ryan. A players coach, Rex has never been afraid to speak his mind and defend the players that take the field for him. That’s part of the reason why I love having him run the show. Not only is he a brilliant defensive mastermind, but coming to the biggest sporting market in the country has done little to break him down. After the Mangini era, a coach that was quiet and reserved coming from the school of Belichik, it was refreshing to have someone who would not back down. But after the way this season went, you begin to wonder if it was too much too fast, and there no doubt needs to be a change in the organization.

I digress, I know you asked for my thoughts on Schotty, and I’ll get there. Not only does Rex defend his players, but he sticks his neck out for his coaching staff as well. When people were calling for Schottenheimer to get axed, he continually said Brian was his guy and that he had confidence in him. Schotty has been the OC for the Jets for six years, and for the first five I liked what he was doing. But it seemed that people were always frustrated in what he did, especially during Ryan’s tenure. What I failed to understand was how could you dislike someone who was in charge of the best running attack in the entire NFL? Mark Sanchez during his rookie year had a very simple task while under center, which was to not screw up. Coming straight out of college after just one year as a starter, it generally takes a while for a rookie QB to adjust to the speed of the game in the NFL. Schotty did his best to disguise the weakness to the offense, and generated the best ground game in the NFL. Partnered with a dominant defense, the Jets were built to control the clock and be successful in cold weather playoff games.

This year, however, it became increasingly difficult to defend Schotty and his tactics. Mark, now in his third full year as a starter, has (fortunately or unfortunately, however you want to look at it) earned the right to have the offense opened up for him. And I get that. But as the old saying goes, don’t fix what ain’t broken. You cannot have Sanchez throw the ball 60 times, with a completion % around 55 and expect to be successful week after week. Yes, the Jets were forced/dared to throw on occasion, whether it was because they were playing from behind or because other teams would load the box, but that formula with this team did not work well this year. The under-utilization of some of the wide outs, mainly Burress, drove me crazy at times. He was used effectively in the red zone, but other than that he was a decoy out there. I do not know if this is because of the play calling by Schottenheimer, or because it was a combination of him not getting open and/or having Sanchez get him the ball, but there should have been more plays called for him and Holmes in my opinion, as they are dynamic receivers fully capable of making the offense go. This was not always the case, as many times they would be thrown to and have it fall incomplete because of a poor throw by Sanchez. Either way you look at it, the offense struggled and there is no excuse for that when there is that much talent on the field.

There are ways I think you can defend Schotty, however, as the offense wasn’t all bad. Surprisingly enough, the Jets were the most efficient team in the red zone all year in the NFL, scoring a TD on almost 70% of their trips down there. They fixed an area of concern, which was their inability to put up 7 points instead of settling for 3 with the wildly inconsistent Nick Folk. As for the run game, there were some factors, I believe, that caused a major dip in productivity. Mangold was forced to miss some games with an injury, and the O-line struggled mightily without him. There’s also Wayne Hunter, who is an abomination at right tackle and clearly not fit to be in an NFL uniform, who caused play after play to break down and/or be penalized for stupidity. With exception to Mangold and Ferguson, it seemed that the O-line continually got beat up front and forced Sanchez to rush through his progressions and led to a lousy run game for the Jets standards. These are not Schotty’s fault, as he cannot control the health of a player or a player’s inability to play at a high level. He can only work with the pieces presented to him.

Overall, however, the offense was ineffective for a team with high hopes, and I believed there was a need for change. As I was typing this, the Jets have officially made Sparano OC. Honestly, I have no idea what to think about this. Although the Dolphins play within the same division as the Jets, I don’t know enough about him to make any assumptions yet as to whether he will be successful or not. Towards the end of the year, the Fins were playing good football and Sparano was able to make Bush a 1,000 yard rusher and have Moore play efficient at QB for the most part, so there seem to be some bright spots. There are also rumors about Haley joining the Jets as assistant HC, which would be interesting. He seems, in my opinion, as a coach that puts players in their place, with a no nonsense attitude and preaches discipline. Maybe this is exactly what the Jets need, as players all over the locker room seem to lack discipline and are talking behind one another’s back frequently now. This, for the most part, is the opposite of Rex, who is a players’ coach and is looser with the players. Again, I do not know a lot about Haley, but having him and Sparano run the offense will probably either be great, or blow up in their face. I’ve rambled a lot, I hope this helps somewhat. If you have any questions please ask, as I enjoy sharing my opinions and thoughts on the Jets.

Week 11 is a very important week for not only fantasy owners, but for many NFL teams.  There are several rivalry games this week.  The NFC East is in rivalry week.  The Cowboys take on the Washington Redskins at 1:00 ET.  On Sunday Night Football, it’s the Eagles at the New York Giants.  Baltimore and Cincinnati battle at 1:00 for the top spot in AFC North.

There are several key injuries this week.  Ray Lewis is questionable for the start of the game.  It was believed that his injury was season ending but he believes he will be able to play.  Leon Hall of the Bengals is also ruled questionable but it doesn’t look like he will be playing.  Julio Jones is out this week as well.  Ahmad Bradshaw is out again for the Giants and, staying in the same game, Michael Vick was ruled out with a couple broken ribs.

The Jets and Broncos started the week off on Thursday.  The Jets lost 17-13 to a late running TD to none other than Tim Tebow.  Like I said earlier, the Bengals play at the Baltimore Ravens.  Both have key injuries that will play a huge factor in the game.  Jacksonville plays the Browns which should be a great game.  Just kidding.  The Panthers visit the Lions without Jeremy Shockey.  Green Bay looks to move to 10-0 against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Buffalo takes on Miami, Oakland plays Minnesota and Dallas and Washington round out the 1:00 games.

Starting at 4:05, the Cardinals will play the 49ers.  The 49ers gain Frank Gore, who has been slightly injured.  Gore is a key factor in this game, but the 49ers should win this game with ease.  The Seahawks then visit the Rams at the dome.  Tennessee plays the Falcons.  Ryan needs to bounce back.  Look for Tony Gonzalez to have a big game with Julio Jones out.  Struggling San Diego plays the Bears and the Eagles play the Giants tonight.  On Monday, The Chiefs visit New England.  New England can gain a lot of ground with a win on Monday.

So here are my picks…..

Cincinnati        20
Baltimore       23

Jacksonville    27
Cleveland        17

Carolina           24
Detroit            31

Tampa Bay      17
Green Bay      42

Buffalo           34
Miami              20

Oakland          20
Minnesota      27

Dallas              34
Washington     23

Arizona           17
San Francisco35

Seattle             16
St. Louis          14

Tennessee        21
Atlanta           31

San Diego       17
Chicago          31

Philadelphia    20
New York      31

Kansas City     16
New England 28

So let me know Who Ya Got?!

We have a pretty good matchup for this weeks Monday Night Football game. The Bears come into Philadelphia with a 4-3 record. Jay Cutler has led his team with 1702 Passing yards and 9 TDs. The Eagles, or "Dream-Team", bring a 3-4 record into the Monday Night game. After starting off slow, Michael Vick has hit his stride with 1852 Passing Yards and 11 TDs.

The Bears have been known for their Defense. Brian's Urlacher, Julius Peppers and Lance Briggs have given out plenty of bruises this year together. The teams weakest part has to be their offense. Jay Cutler has struggled for the Bears. He has found a way to get his team 4 wins this season. Along with returning sensation Devon Hester, Matt Forte has proven he is worth a healthy contract. Forte has 672 yards on 124 carries and 2 TDs. He also has 419 receiving yards and 1 Td. He is a big factor in this game.

On the Philadelphia side, Mike Vick has been a fantasy football hero. His versatility has made him one of the best QBs in the league. LeSean McCoy has been just as impressive this year. The 3 year vet has 754 yards on 135 carries and 8 TDs. Although DeSean Jackson is not the team leader in the receiving category, DeSean is one of the fastest players in all of the NFL. If Vick gets the ball into Jackson's hands, it can be deadly.

The key for the Bears is to match Vick. The Eagles are coming off of a huge defensive performance against their rivals the Cowboys. If Jay Cutler and make time for himself and make his passes, the Bears can stay in the game. For the Eagles, Vick and McCoy have to establish the run game. The Bears D is tough. If they can get the run game going, they should come out with a W.

And my prediction is......

Chicago Bears 17

Philadelphia Eagles 27

The countdown is on to the rematch of Super Bowl 42.  The New York Giants travel to Foxboro to take on the New England Patriots.  This is expected to be a very good game.  The Patriots who are coming off of a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to put an end to their losing ways and to the Giants winning streak.  The Giants have had bad news come their way this week.  They are without Running Back Ahmad Bradshaw, Center David Baas, Wide Receiver Hakeem Nicks and their 2011 first round pick, Prince Amukamara, is also expected to miss Sunday’s game.

The Patriots have, if not the best QB, then the 2nd best QB in all of the NFL this year.   Tom Brady has proven himself to be resilient and make huge plays for his team.  The Patriots running game has been okay this year but they have not proven to be a factor in their wins.  The Patriots defense has also been a con this year.  They have let up some big plays, and have not been able to stop good offenses.

For the Giants, their first half of the schedule has been pretty easy.  They come into the game with a 5-2 record.  The key to the Giants success is going to be Eli Manning.  With two huge offensive players out in Bradshaw and Nicks, Manning is going to control the tempo of the game and make sure is receivers are on the same page.  The Giants defense leads the NFL with 26 sacks.  If they can find a way to hang with Wes Welker and put Brady onto the turf, they will come away with some turnovers.

I believe this game will be pretty close.  I think Tom Brady will have the usual “Brady-like” game.  I think this game relies on the Giants defense.  If they get tired and let Brady have plenty of time in the pocket, they will have no shot. They need to get to Brady and mess up his timing.  Eli Manning has been playing well but it is very hard to win at Gillette Stadium.  Plus the Giants injuries do not help them at all.

With all of this in mind, my prediction for this week’s matchup is……

New York Giants                  27
New England Patriots             23

Last week, Tim Tebow made his first NFL start this season against the Miami Dolphins.  The media had a field day with this.  For some reason, the media is in so much love with Tebow.  He came back late in the 4th Qtr. to rally the Broncos passed the Dolphins who are still yet to win a game.  After the win, Tebow was praised for his mediocre performance against a very bad team.  This week, Tebow and the Broncos took on the Detroit Lions.  This did not go the way everyone wanted.

It was all Lions today.  The final score was 45-10, dropping the Broncos to 2-5 on the year.  Tebow, in the end, had an awful game but will somehow get praised tomorrow on Sports Center.  He went 18 for 39 for 172 and a passing TD.  He also had 68 yards rushing.  Here is where things take a turn for the worst.  Tebow racked up one interception and three fumbles!  Although he only lost one fumble, he still fumbled three times.  Obviously it is not only Tebow's fault that the team lost, but I am tired of all the attention he is getting and he hasn't proved himself.  I was a fan when he was in college, but not so much now.

I do like Tebow, I just want him to win a tough game.  All he has shown he can do in the NFL is run.  He hasn't had much experience yet which is understandable.  The worst thing is that the media is crazy about him.  All I ask of NFL analyst and TV and radio hosts is that they wait until he proves himself.  So far the only thing Tebow has given us is "Tebowing".

When is Rex going to learn?  The usual Rex Ryan smack talk came about during an interview this week.  He was asked about his counterpart, Norv Turner head coach of the San Diego Chargers, and about how in 2007 he was interviewed for the same coaching job but did not get it.  He said that if he was the coach of the Chargers he would have had a couple of rings by now.  He was also quoted as saying "those teams were loaded."  After the interview was over, Rex called Turner and apologized before Norv got the chance to hear it.  In a press conference after Norv Turner stated "I was just wondering if he had those rings with the ones he's guaranteed the last couple of years."
I am starting to really get annoyed whenever Rex Ryan is in the news.  I am beginning to think that Jets fans don't even like how much attention he is getting instead of his team.  It is okay to be confident and outspoken but come n now, this is ridiculous.  in the interview, Rex not only knocked Norv Turner but he also knocked himself and the Jets.  He basically said that the Jets were not stacked and that he would have been more successful with the Chargers.  Not only has Rex found himself 0-2 in his super Bowl predictions, his team this season is having some difficulties finding themselves with a 3-3 record.
Norv turner's comments were great.  He threw it right back in Rex's face.  Norv Turner is one of the last guys you would see criticizing another coach but it was his only choice.  We already had enough drama between coaches this week between Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz.  This trash talk by Rex is not only annoying but very unnecessary.  Just go out there and let your team play.  instead of making a fool of himself during interviews he should probably focus on winning some games; he does have a Super Bowl to win.

Are you ready for some controversy?  I am not sure if Hank Williams Jr. is.  The country music star finds himself in a little bit of a pickle right now.  If you haven't heard, Hank Williams Jr. made some comments about Obama on Fox News the other night.  He compared Barack Obama and John Boehner's golfing day "would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu."  Hank Williams Jr. has been the voice of Monday Night Football for 22 years now.  He cleverly opens up each game with a customized song about the two NFL teams that are playing that night.

Last Monday's Colts-Bucs game, ESPN pulled the scheduled Hank Williams MNF song from live TV.  ESPN followed by suspending Williams Jr. for a week because of his comments.  The country singer was upset by their actions and decided to part ways.  He stated the following, “After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision. By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run.”

It is never a good thing when you compare the person running the country as a member of the Three Stooges.  This is exactly what Williams JR. has done.  Hank Williams definitely has to watch what he says. Even though he doesn't directly work for ESPN, he is connected to one of the biggest, if not the biggest sports company in the world.  ESPN had no choice but to part ways.  It is one thing to criticize a political leader publicly but to compare the person to one of the most hated, disturbed historical political figures is beyond wrong.  Monday Night Football and the NFL are among the most popular shows and sports in the U.S.A.  His comments are connected by viewers to ESPN.

Should we care of other people's political views?  I don't think we should, however that doesn't mean Hank was right for what he said.  He was asked for his opinion on TV and he gave it.  It was not what people wanted to here but that is why the issue of free speech was issued; so people could have their own opinions.  I don't think ESPN was wrong for splitting with him but we should not care about someone else's opinions but we do.  Hank just chose the wrong analogy for such a important figure in this country.

Was ESPN wrong for parting ways with Hank Williams Jr. or was that the right move for them?  Let me know what you think in the comment box.

Tony Romo has been looked at as a sports hero.  He has been profiled as a top NFL quarterback, a pop culture icon and an all-around perfect guy.  He has recently recieved a lot of praise, mainly because he suffered a cracked rib and a punctured lung during a game against the 49ers.  He fought back and threw a pass to seal the win in overtime.  He was given a lot of credit for returning to the game with these injuries.  This last week, it seemed like the hot topic was Tony Romo's injury update.

I know playing with an injury is difficult and I could only imagine how tough it was for him to play an NFL game with the injuries.  With this being said, I believe Tony Romo is overrated and inconsistent.  While I would agree that Romo is a great quarterback, he is not an elite QB because of these inconsistencies.  Sports analysts and reporters put Tony Romo on this pedestal like he is some kind of god.  He has done nothing yet to be in the NFL's elite class of QB's.  When I think of elite QB's I think of Brady, Brees, Roesthlisberger and Rodgers.  Besides winning playoff games, these QB's all have won atleast 1 Super Bowl.

I am not saying that Romo is bad, but he is gaining to much credit.  It all started in the playoff game against the Seahawks in 2007. He botched the FG hold that would have won the Cowboys the game.  Last season Romo was injured by the Giants where he did not return for the rest of the season.  After beating the 49ers and Redskins with a cracked rib, Romo choked once again.

The Cowboys were up big against the 3-0 Lions.  20-3 at halftime to be exact.  With 2 interceptions which were both returned for a TD in the 3rd Qtr. the Lions began their comeback. The Lions came back within 6 after a Calvin Johnson TD.  With just over 4 minutes left in the game, Romo recklessly floats a pass up which is also picked off.  The Lions went on to score another Calvin Johnson TD which untimately won the game.

21 pts were scored off of the Romo interception's.  Why can't people see past all of his personal accomplishments and talk about the "real" Tony Romo.  The Romo that finds a way to blow the game.  He blows games like this all the time and still receives praise like he is Tom Brady.  As a Giants fan its easy to hate on Romo, but I understand he is a good QB.  He is better than Eli Manning.  But then again Eli found a way to win a championship.  Romo plays for "America's Team."  Jerry Jones (Owner of Cowboys) has provided the team with great players.  Romo has no excuse.  It falls on him.  If he is such a great QB why has he found it so hard to carry his team past the 1st round of the playoffs?

What do you think?  Is Tony Romo Overrated or Underrated?

Week 2 Monday Night Football Matchup, St. Louis Rams vs. New York Giants.  Both teams come off of a loss.  The Rams have suffered a huge injury to their starting running back Steven Jackson.  Sam Bradford also suffered an injury to his hand but it looks like he will play.

Injuries are familiar to the New York Giants after suffering many off-season injuries.  As of Monday it looked like the G-Men would be without Justin Tuck and Hakeem Nicks.  It looks like the Giants will have both of them starting in the game tomorrow night.

Both teams are in need of a win.  Although the Rams played good offense against the powerful Eagles D, they are still without their star running back.  The back Cadillac Williams is a nice fit for their Offense.  The Giants are in need of a win.  The Redskins won already, so they need to win to stay in contention with the other 3 NFC East teams.  The Giants should take care of business on the ground and as long as Eli Manning throws the ball safely, the Giants should take the W.

My pick for this MNF game is.......

Giants 31
Rams 17

So the 2011 NFL season is finally underway.  For some time it looked like there wasn’t going to be an NFL season.  I am not sure about you but I am so happy that Football is back.  Now unfortunately I am a New York Giants fan.  It is very hard to be optimistic about this year due to all the off-season losses and injuries.  Then the G-men have an awful pre-season.  The first game started out pretty well for the Giants, however it took a turn for the worst.   The offense had quick series’ which means the defensive was stuck out on the field for a long tired.  The offensive line seemed old and confused.  It was hard to enjoy this Sunday’s game.

Now while the Giants had an off day, there were a few surprises in the games today.  Rookie Cam Newton had a great opening game with a long TD pass to Steve Smith and a rushing TD.  He will most likely get the most attention tomorrow on Sports Center.   The Ravens also had a huge start against the strong Steelers.  The Ravens D controlled Big Ben.  Another big story was that of Kerry Collins and the Indianapolis Colts.  Collins had a dreadful game and they lost big to the Houston Texans.

The biggest surprise, I think, was that of the game that Rex Grossman had against my beloved New York Giants.  It took control of the game.  Rex started a little slow but after the Giants first score by Eli Manning, his game took flight.  He made great passes and he got help from his teammate Tim Hightower who recorded his first career 100+ yard game.  He insured a lot of positive things in the Washington Redskins fan base.

While Week 1 is not over yet, I am personally ready for Week 2.  My Giants need to come out strong against the St. Louis Rams next Monday.   There seem to be a lot of great matchups next week.  Drop a comment and let me know what you believe to be the best game to watch next week.

Let me know WHO YA GOT?!
