College

For the first time in BCS history, the #1 seed was shut out for the entire bowl game.  Once again, Alabama looked to their field goal kicker to help them win this game. Luckily there was one touchdown scored in this game. Trent Richardson, RB for the Tide, had a touchdown run for 34 yards with only a few minutes left in the 4th quarter.

The player of the game had to be Jeremy Shelley, the kicker for Alabama.  Shelley made five field goals in the game, had one blocked and missed another wide right.  Shelley had a much better performance from the two team’s last meeting when he and other Alabama kicker, Cade Foster, combined to miss four field goals.

LSU was simply outplayed.  Alabama did not play really well, but they did what they had to, to win.  LSU had two turnovers in the game, with Alabama not committing any turnovers.  LSU had only five first downs in the game. Alabama held the Tigers to 53 total passing yards and 39 total rushing yards.  LSU really did nothing well last night.  They couldn’t run, pass or stop the Alabama offense until it got into or near their red zone.  It got so bad, analysts kept hinting whether Les Miles was going to put in their backup QB after a couple poor choices made by starting QB Jordan Jefferson.

Fans were once again shocked at the outcome of the game between these two powerhouses.  Although we did see one TD, the lack of scoring was very surprising.  Fans don’t watch the sport to see someone kick the ball through the uprights.  At least I don’t. We want to see deep bombs caught for touchdowns, or the running back barrel over four people to score.  I know it’s called “Football” but we don’t want to see a score reflected by just someone’s kicking abilities.  I guess this is why this game ranked the least viewed title game in its 14 year history.

Here we go again.  #1 LSU takes on #2 Alabama for the 2012 BCS National Championship Title.  After a lot of disbelief of whether these two teams will meet again after their first game, we find ourselves anticipating the outcome of this game.

The first time these teams met, everyone was expecting a high scoring battle.  There was supposed to be a great offensive display.  However, we got just the opposite.  The game ended in overtime like many thought it would, but the score was only 9-6 LSU.  Alabama seemed to be in control for most of the game, but a couple missed field goals turned out to be the difference.  Just because it wasn’t high scoring does not mean that it was not enjoyable to watch.  It was a great game.  I just think we were all expecting at least one touchdown.

LSU has an edge in this game.  The title game is being held in Louisiana.  There should be more LSU fans than Alabama since the game is in their home area.  But I think Nick Saban and the Tide are going to get some revenge.  I thought Alabama was going to win their first meeting.  They definitely had chances.  They just failed to capitalize.

I expect this game to be similar to the first; however I think and hope that there will be more than one touchdown scored in this game.  Watch out for Trent Richardson to have a big game for Alabama.  I am picking Alabama to take down #1 LSU and claim another National Championship.  Roll Tide Roll!

The game airs tonight, 8:30 P.M. EST on ESPN.  Enjoy the game

Yesterday was the first game Penn State played without Joe Paterno as their head coach since 1966.  It was the school’s senior’s day and Paterno was not in attendance due to the decision made by Penn State to fire their head coach.  The outraged fans still attended the game and cheered for Joe even though he was not there.  Penn State played their hardest for Joe but went on to lose the game 17 to 14 to Nebraska.

When first hearing about this situation, I was disgusted by Sandusky.  It is so disturbing what he did to those kids.  Mike McQueary, Penn State assistant coach, witnessed an incident between Sandusky and a little boy in the Penn State locker room.  He reported it to Joe Paterno and according to Paterno; he brought it up to the Penn State Athletic Director.  Later this week, Penn State announced that after parting ways with their AD, they were going to fire head coach Joe Paterno.

Fans and other sports fans were quick to rip the decision of the school to get rid of Paterno.  Many of these people picture Joe Paterno as an innocent old man who wouldn’t hurt a fly.  However, what about those children that Sandusky molested?  We have to think about the victims of these acts.  Although I agree that Paterno did not do anything wrong, he could have done more.  I also did not like that Penn State did fire Paterno.  He meant too much to that school and NCAA football.  I understand why they did but He deserves a better way to go out.

As for McQueary, I don’t understand how he was not punished as severely as coach Paterno.  He witnessed an act in which he should have brought to the attention of the police.  If anyone is in any trouble besides Sandusky, it should have been Mike McQueary.

As the season will go on, Penn State will have to play without their leader, Joe Paterno.  They will be in the spotlight for the rest of the season and will have that buzz set around them about these terrible incidents.  As for the victims, I hope their future is an easy one.  These kids and their families did not deserve this at all.  These were innocent kids who looked at Sandusky as their friend.  We pray that they are okay and that they live a good life.

What do you think?  Was Penn State’s decision to fire head coach Joe Paterno the right decision?  Let me know in the comment section!

Well that was not what everyone expected. When watching the LSU vs Alabama game last night I was not only expecting a high scoring showdown but I was hoping for one also. I normally don't watch College Football. However, this game was too good to not watch. It seemed as though everyone thought the game was going to be close, but definitely not this close. It seemed as though the only ones who showed up were each team's defenses.

The game itself was pretty boring. I did like how even the teams were. Which gets me to my next point of concern. Don't you think both of these teams deserve to play in the BCS National Championship game? These two teams are equal powerhouses' and both deserve to play against each other in the National Championship. I do not know much about the BCS playoff and ranking system. Quite frankly, I am confused by the whole system. I don't think it is fair that just because Alabama lost yesterday, they cannot play in the BCS National Championship Game. It doesn't make sense to me.

I have been hearing a lot of people demanding for a rematch. I think if the season shapes out the way everyone thinks it will, a LSU-Alabama rematch would be fair and just awesome. LSU coach Les Miles was asked after the game about a chance of a rematch and he states "I would be honored to play that football team again.".

What do you think? Should NCAA football change their ranking system? Should they allow these two teams to play a rematch?
